The Field Poll typically produces approximately 30 to 50 reports each year on social, political and other policy issues. Each report includes a fact sheet which describes how the data were collected with suggestions on how they should be presented by the media. This is designed to insure uniform presentation, to minimize possible misunderstandings or misinterpretations of the data and to make proper disclosures of methods and technical procedures.

A Non-Partisan Polling Instrument
The Field Poll receives continuing financial support from leading California newspapers and television stations, which purchase the rights of first release to Field Poll reports in their primary viewer or readership markets. The Poll also receives funding from the University of California and California State University systems, which comprise the Poll's academic consortium, as well as from foundations, non-profit organizations, and others as part of its policy research sponsor program.
The Field Poll is careful to avoid any conflict with its non-partisan activities in measuring and reporting on voter opinions. Since its inception The Field Poll has eschewed undertaking studies for political office candidates or initiative campaign organizations who desire survey data to guide them during political campaigns.
Field Poll Data Archived in University Data Archives
The Field Poll has consistently taken the lead among polling organizations in making its methods, results and questionnaires available to the public and the academic community. Starting in 1958, The Field Poll began regularly archiving its survey data at the University of California for public access and scholarly research. The archive is housed at UC Data.
