Who We Are
Field Research Corporation is a national, full service consumer marketing and public opinion research firm headquartered in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1945 by Mervin Field, we have been serving the survey research needs of business, industry and government for more than 50 years. Today we rank among the leading national research firms and are one of the largest full service survey research firms headquartered on the West Coast.
What We Do
We specialize in the design and implementation of surveys covering a wide range of consumer, market and public opinion research needs. Our full time, in-house staff of over 50 research professionals designs and implements surveys on a local, regional, national and international basis.
Our clients include many of the country's leading corporations as well as federal, state and local government agencies, foundations, universities and other public and private organizations.
Our goal is to produce first-rate, results-oriented research and, thereby, build strong, continuing partnerships with our clients. As a founding member of the Council of American Survey Research Organizations, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in all phases of the research process from the initial conceptualization of the research through post-report consultations on how the findings can be applied.
Our People
Our senior research professionals are recognized experts in research design and analysis. Each has 20 or more years experience. We come from various academic backgrounds and have developed highly specialized knowledge in a variety of industries and public policy areas. Results of our studies are often quoted in the major media and we have testified before various local, state and federal agencies, including federal courts. We are professional, "hands on" researchers -- not sales people. Our efforts are backed by other professional and technical staff in our research, interviewing, systems, data processing and graphics departments.
Facilities
We are a true "full service" organization. We maintain complete, state-of-the-art facilities so that all phases of the survey can be conducted in-house. These include:

- State-of-the-art data collection and data processing
- In-house editing, coding, data tabulation
- Full library of advanced statistical analysis capabilities

The Field Poll
A well-known activity of Field Research Corporation is The Field Poll, an independent political and public policy poll which first came into being in 1947. The Field Poll enjoys widespread respect for its fairness and accuracy in charting opinion trends in California's dynamic political and social climate.
